Proceedings of the 26th Annual Conference of the European Association for Machine Translation

This volume contains the works presented at the 26th Annual Conference of the European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT 2026) in the Research Technical and Research – Translators and Users tracks. Volume 1 of the conference proceedings comprises 55 manuscripts capturing innovations in the research and development of machine translation and large language models, quality assessment of translation tools, translation studies, user engagement and related topics. Reflecting on theoretical advances, innovative applications, societal implications and economic insights, these contributions represent the new state of the art in Europe and globally. The four-day conference programme (a full day of workshops and tutorials followed by a three-day main conference) featured poster and oral presentations of the published papers, two keynote presentations, and a sponsored talk, all of which are collected in these proceedings. In addition, this volume contains the summaries of the EAMT Best Thesis Award (Anthony C. Clarke Award) winner and of the commended thesis. EAMT 2026 took place in Tilburg, the Netherlands, and was organised by the ISMT research group at Tilburg University.
